Our Story
Gray Day Goods was born on a gray day in Oregon. I’m a Cement Mason by trade, and our work tends to slow down during Portland’s cold, rainy winters. During one of those lulls I started experimenting with concrete on a much smaller scale than slabs and sidewalks. With a Secret Santa gift exchange coming up, I wanted to make something by hand for the friend I’d drawn. I made my first small planter and I was hooked.
Bringing plants into my work felt like a natural progression. Being a Cement Mason is a core part of who I am, but so are gardening and a life long love of plants. Before finding my way into construction, I worked as a gardener and farmer. I have tended many gardens over the years, both large and small. My work continues to be inspired by the plants I grow and see on walks, both cultivated and wild.
